Everyone grieves differently when it comes to the loss of a loved one. There is sadness, loneliness and sometimes even feelings of frustration and anger. It’s important to find ways to cope, so that the healing can begin. Our Grief Support group is free and available to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss. This group is beneficial because it provides a place to begin sharing your grief with others who have suffered a loss and it promotes building long-term supportive relationships.
This ministry sews and distributes 18”x18” prayer quilts. Since this ministry began in November 2008, around 30 quilts a month have been distributed to patients at the Kaplan Family Hospice House as well to others who may be homebound, significantly ill or suffer from emotional distress. The people who have received these quilts are truly touched by the love and prayers that go into making them. Family members are encouraged to keep the quilts in the event a loved one dies. Quilt kits and instructions are provided to volunteers of this ministry. Volunteers are welcome for both the sewing and the distribution of the quilts. Donations of all cotton only material are also welcome.

The mission of St. Vincent de Paul is to grow spiritually through prayer and service to those in need in the community. Participants in this ministry pair up to do home visits in responses to calls of need that come into the rectory. Becoming a member of SVdP does not require a commitment to participate in home visits. Members also support each other in prayer and sharing of ideas on how to best raise funds and distribute them.
This past fiscal year the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP) saw a dramatic increase in requests for help from our Friends and Neighbors in need. It is with deep appreciation for your gifts that the SVdP shares the following report for the past fiscal year (10/1/21- 9/30/22). So many lives were touched by your generosity! Vincentians made 114 Home Visits serving 169 adults and 97 children. SVdP was able to provide a total of $80,909 in financial assistance to needy individuals and families! This included $18,287 in rental, security deposit, and mortgage assistance; $9,957 for food; $9,762 for utilities; $5,081 for gift cards for various reasons including medical supplies; $3,765 for car repairs, payments, and insurance; $3,450 for gas; $2,910 for furniture; $1,427 for taxes; $1,255 for clothing; $508 in emergency housing; and $1,650 during the Christmas holidays for needy families. We also provided $22,857 for requests that did not fall into one of the above categories, but where we discerned the need was real (i.e., “Twinning” with other Conferences, medical expenses, home repairs, cable/telephone, after school care, etc.).
We have been truly blessed to be able to make a difference in the lives of so many in need—and it was only because of your unbelievably generous support. We may be Christ’s hands and feet, but you are His heart! Thank you.

Anti-Human Trafficking "Bags of Love" Ministry
*This is a new ministry and our Anti-Human Trafficking Page is under construction.
The Danvers Catholic Collaborative is partnering with the Boston Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition of Women Religious to provide “Bags of Love” (backpacks) to rescued victims of sex/labor trafficking.
Several years ago the FBI, along with state and local police Human Trafficking Divisions, requested support for women/girls rescued from trafficking in the New England area. The Women Religious in Boston formed an Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition to provide emergency assistance to women/girls in crisis as they transition from victim to survivor. They often escape with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Our “Bags of Love” ministry will provide essential items for their transition time to a safe house.
The Bags of Love backpacks will contain all new items including seasonal clothing, pajamas, toiletries, snacks, and a small gift card. A note of encouragement is added to convey support for the courage and determination needed to heal and begin a new life.
Human Trafficking is a $150 billion dollar a year industry and the average age of young girls being trafficked is eleven to fourteen. There are many that need our help. Let us work together to offer support, prayers, and our hearts to each survivor!
