The Finance Board works closely with Fr. Flannagan and the business manager to insure the financial well being of the Parish. This group with the support of the Parish Council approves the annual budget. Quarterly, the team reviews the progress we are making to our annual revenue and expense goals. Adjustments are made to running the Parish budget based upon the financial trends of St. Richard’s.
The annual budget for the Parish is around $600,000 and has been at this level for several years.
• Eighty-eight percent of our revenue comes from the offertory and grand annual program. The financial success of our Parish depends on your generous support.
• On the expense side of the budget, salaries and benefits account for half of our annual expenses. Religious education, plant and maintenance, and our commitment to helping others through the outreach program account for the balance of the budget.
It is the mission of the Parish Council to assist in the achievement of our Parish Vision. Specifically, the Parish Council strives to create a sense of belonging, a desire for participation, and a spirit of WELCOME.
The Parish Council is an advisory board of active parishioners who assist the Pastor in identifying and addressing pastoral matters related to the achievement of the Parish Vision. The Parish Council investigates these pastoral matters, considers them prayerfully, and presents options and/or makes recommendations to the Pastor. Upon approval from the Pastor, the Parish Council may coordinate and oversee the implementation of its recommendations.
As an instrument for members of our Parish to express concerns or ideas related to the achievement of our Parish Vision, the Parish Council needs to hear from parish members constantly to ensure that its focus is truly on the needs of the Parish community. We have 6 members of the Parish Council: John Call, Curtis Dalton, Anna-Mary Geist, Peter Kennett, Betty Ann Maney and Christine Newhall, Chairman. Please feel free to contact any member or catch them after Mass with thoughts, suggestions or feedback.
Members of the Parish Council may be nominated by other council members and approved by the Pastor or appointed by the Pastor. Typically, members of the Parish Council serve a two-year term. Meetings are held on a monthly basis. The Parish Council meets once each quarter with the Finance Committee to understand the financial health of the Parish.
The Parish Council meetings for this year are at 7:00 on 11/14, 12/12, 1/9, 2/13, 3/13, 4/10, and 5/8.
